The 30 year Drought

As I began my fifth decade on this wretched earth, I started to feel that something was missing in my life. A higher purpose, maybe. I’m not even sure, but there were forces pulling at my heart strings I couldn’t explain. It was Him, I am sure of that now, but then it was just something odd. Five things began to play out in my life simultaneously, and thus has changed my life forever. The first was a local Pastor, doing his job to reach out to my very young grand-daughter, who had been going to his church occasionally with her cousins. He would stop by the house to see how she was doing and eventually invited the wife to a Sunday service. Well, she was about in the same boat I was spiritually, but when she came home from service that Sunday, she was beaming from ear to ear and proclaiming she had found the church for her. I of course working every Sunday had to wait until I had a weekend off to see how accurate that statement would be for me. So, finally, I got a chance to meet The Lord again, in a way, and I kind of liked it. I was feeling good about it too. One Seed planted, Amen.

The Moose-tard Seed:

The second sowing was the grand-daughter of a friend. She was the typical story of a child having difficulties with her home life along with medical issues that were in need of some remedy. There were issues that we need not expound on, but grand-daughter needed a change. Grandma knew that, and as she was headed to her salvation she made me promise to take care of "The Moose", as we affectionately call her. That in itself is another story, but God had put this child on my heart and I promised to do whatever was necessary to help her. This required taking a child with physical and emotional baggage into our happy home. I was now a Social Worker? Seed number two planted.
